João Pedro Palmer and Joao Pedro Star in Madonna Film After Missing World Cup Selection

Chelsea forwards Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro have shifted from the football pitch to the entertainment arena, appearing in a new promotional film by global pop icon Madonna. The appearance came just days after both players were left off their national squads for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The duo stars in Confessions II – The Film, a 14‑minute short that promotes Madonna’s upcoming album, Confessions On A Dance Floor: Part II. The film premiered at the Tribeca Festival in New York and was later released on the singer’s official YouTube channel.

Palmer and Pedro appear midway through the film in a brief but memorable scene with Madonna, marking an unexpected crossover between football and music.

Palmer was omitted from England’s final World Cup squad after a season hampered by injuries and stiff competition for forward positions. Pedro was left out of Brazil’s squad despite scoring 20 goals for Chelsea across all competitions in the season.

The film also features acclaimed British actor Benedict Cumberbatch, adding further star appeal.

Madonna’s ties to Chelsea are well known. The seven‑time Grammy Award winner regularly follows the club, has attended matches at Stamford Bridge, and appeared with influencer Gymskin during a livestream event that launched Chelsea’s 2026‑27 home kit.

Releasing Confessions II – The Film is part of the build‑up to Madonna’s album, which is scheduled for release on July 3.

Although Palmer and Pedro will not be competing in football’s biggest tournament this summer, their unexpected role in Madonna’s latest project keeps them in the public eye, albeit on a very different stage.
