Chelsea forward João Pedro revealed that he encouraged teammate Cole Palmer to take on the number 10 role for Brazil ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Pedro, who was omitted from Brazil’s World Cup squad, believes Palmer would be a natural fit as the team’s playmaker.

He noted that the current Brazil side, coached by Carlo Ancelotti, lacks a dedicated number 10.

Coincidentally, Palmer also missed out on England’s World Cup squad.

Speaking on the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast, Pedro said of Palmer, “He’s very intelligent. He’s magic.”

“I told him, ‘I didn’t think you were that good.’ And he just looked at me! But now, because I play with him, he’s different.”

“I said to him, ‘Why don’t you come to Brazil? Take the number 10 there, mate. No problem.’”

“Because in Brazil, we don’t have this guy. If you watch us, we play 4-2-4. We don’t have a number 10.”
