Jamaica Coach Confident of Victory Over Nigeria’s Super Eagles in the Unity Cup

Jamaica head coach Rudolph Speid says his team is confident they can defeat the Super Eagles in the Unity Cup final, according to the DAILY POST.

The Reggae Boys secured a place in the tournament’s final after a 2‑0 win over India on Wednesday night.

Courtney Clarke and Kaheim Dixon scored for Jamaica in that match.

Jamaica has lost the Unity Cup final to the Super Eagles in the previous two editions.

Last year, they nearly overturned a 2‑0 deficit before losing 5‑4 on penalties to Éric Chelle’s side.

Speid remains optimistic that his team can overcome the three‑time African champions this time.

“They (Super Eagles) are very, very good, but every team is beatable, and we have to be aware of what they bring. We have some things to bring ourselves. Jamaica is still in a rebuilding stage, lots of young players,” Speid said after the victory over India.

“As with the game these days, nobody is a winner before the game is played. That’s where we are right now,” he added.

The final will be held at the Valley on Saturday night.
