Jafaru Sani, El‑Rufai ally, runs for Kaduna governor as an ADC candidate

Malam Jafaru Ibrahim Sani, who previously served as a commissioner in former governor Nasir El‑Rufai’s administration, has announced his candidacy for the Kaduna State governorship on the African Democratic Congress (ADC) platform.

During El‑Rufai’s tenure, Sani held the positions of Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and later Commissioner for Education.

He has already secured the necessary nomination forms to run for the state’s highest office.

Speaking about the move, he said, “We are trying to be among the contenders. May Allah guide us.”

On Wednesday, Sani appeared with other governorship aspirants at a meeting where ADC members pledged to collaborate in pursuit of a 2027 election victory.

Other candidates seeking the ADC governorship nomination include Isah Ashiru Kudan, Professor Muhammad Sani Bello, Shuaibu Idris Mikati, and Tijjani Ahmad.
