A political strategist, Baba Yusuf, has criticized the rise of insecurity in Nigeria, asserting that the situation is deteriorating.

During an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Friday, Yusuf expressed concern that Nigerians are now forced to beg terrorists for their lives.

He noted that for 17 years, Nigeria has faced multidimensional insecurity, which has eroded public trust in leaders.

Yusuf urged the government to investigate why substantial funds are allocated to security while the country fails to achieve the desired results.

“Citizens are now aligning with terrorists not to fight, but to beg for their lives,” he said.

“Insecurity is worsening, and Nigerians have lost confidence in their leaders,” Yusuf added.

He cited Sections 88 and 89 of the 1999 constitution, which grant the red and green chambers of the National Assembly the authority to investigate any matter.

“Beyond scrutiny, the constitution provides a framework to ensure that actions are carried out as required. This approach is more reactive than proactive,” he concluded.
