The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the final list of candidates for the upcoming Nasarawa North Senatorial District by‑election, set for June 20, 2026.
According to the list, four candidates have been cleared to contest the vacant Senate seat representing the district.
The candidates are Halilu Onda Enyulu‑Uza of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Maku Labaran of the Labour Party (LP), John Paul Aaraneshi of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), and Emmanuel David Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The publication of the final list marks the start of the last phase of preparations for the by‑election, as political parties are expected to ramp up campaigns across the five local government areas that comprise the senatorial district.
INEC has previously pledged its commitment to conducting a free, fair, and credible poll in accordance with the Electoral Act and established electoral guidelines.
The Nasarawa North Senatorial District includes Akwanga, Wamba, Nassarawa Eggon, Kokona, and Nasarawa Local Government Areas.
With the final list now public, attention turns to the campaigns and the eventual showdown at the polls on June 20.
