The National Secretary of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), Sunday Ogini, has publicly criticized the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, calling him incompetent.
Ogini voiced the accusation on Wednesday during a Q&A session on News Central Television.
He contended that Amupitan’s legal interpretations demonstrate a lack of ability to manage court rulings effectively.
"Amupitan is not competent as a professor of law. His incompetence could cost us this democracy if we remain silent," Ogini said.
"In the leadership dispute within the NNPP, we secured a valid court judgment affirming the leadership of the Bito Abu-led executive, of which I am the secretary," he added.
"We obtained that judgment in the Federal Capital Territory, and the Appeal Court in Owerri also confirmed us. Do you need to go to Harvard University to understand that, as an unbiased umpire, you must obey court orders and valid judgments?" Ogini questioned.
"Amupitan is incompetent. I am telling you here. I met him one on one. We discussed this matter. I want Nigerians to know the incompetence of Amupitan today," he concluded.
