INEC certifies Gov. Oyebanji as winner in the Ekiti 2026 election.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti received the certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday, following his victory in the Saturday governorship election.

INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr Bunmi Omoseyindemi, who was acting on behalf of INEC Chairman Prof Joseph Amupitan, presented the certificate to the governor at the commission’s state headquarters in Ado‑Ekiti.

Omoseyindemi congratulated Governor Oyebanji on his re‑election and praised the people of Ekiti for maintaining peace throughout the electoral process.

He noted that the successful conduct of the election reflected the commitment of INEC and other stakeholders to strengthening democratic governance in the state.

Omoseyindemi urged all political actors to continue upholding democratic values.

The ceremony was attended by party leaders, government officials, traditional rulers and supporters of the governor.
