The Inspector‑General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, marked Father’s Day by paying tribute to fathers across Nigeria.
He praised fathers for their vital role in fostering family cohesion, social stability, and national development.
In a statement signed by CSP Anietie Iniedu, Force Public Relations Officer, the Force acknowledged the sacrifices, dedication, and leadership shown by fathers in raising responsible citizens and reinforcing the moral foundations that underpin a peaceful and prosperous society.
The statement highlighted the pivotal role fathers play in nurturing responsible children, promoting sound moral values, and instilling discipline, integrity, hard work, and patriotism—qualities essential for nation‑building.
Disu noted that the daily sacrifices fathers make—providing guidance, protection, and support—continue to strengthen society’s social fabric and contribute significantly to national progress.
He specifically praised police officers who, despite the demanding nature of their duties, remain devoted fathers and guardians within their families.
The IGP recognized the sacrifices of officers who often spend long hours away from home in service to the nation while staying committed to their parental responsibilities and role‑model duties.
He wished all fathers good health, strength, wisdom, and fulfillment, urging Nigerians to honour and appreciate the sacrifices, commitment, and lasting influence of fathers whose efforts greatly contribute to a safer, stronger, and more prosperous Nigeria.
