Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru handed over 31 new security vehicles to the state’s security agencies during a ceremony at the New Government House in Abakaliki. The event was part of the state’s Democracy Day celebrations and included an inspection of a guard of honour performed by officers of the Nigeria Police Force.

During the handover, Governor Nwifuru praised the professionalism and dedication of the state’s security personnel, calling them “men of honour.” He highlighted the collaborative efforts of the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Nigeria Customs Service, the Nigeria Immigration Service, the Nigerian Correctional Service, the Federal Road Safety Corps, the Department of State Services, and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

The governor noted that the administration has invested in modern security tools such as drones and other intelligence equipment to improve surveillance and enable rapid responses to threats. He declined to disclose specific operational details for security reasons.

He explained that the new patrol vehicles were acquired to restore mobility to grassroots security operations after a previous withdrawal of vehicles from local units. The governor urged security staff to remain vigilant despite the current peace in the state and to maintain professionalism amid increasing political activities.

“As political activities gather momentum, remain focused, professional, and committed to your duty without fear or favour,” he said.

The governor thanked the service chiefs and community stakeholders for their ongoing cooperation in sustaining peace across Ebonyi State.

Earlier in the day, he inspected the guard of honour that was mounted in his honour by officers of the Nigeria Police Force as part of the Democracy Day celebrations.
