Panic erupted on Wednesday when a stage collapsed during an Accord Party rally in Ijebu‑Jesa, Osun State.
The collapse happened while party leaders and supporters were assembled at the venue.
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke was reportedly present at the inauguration of his re‑election canvassers, which took place in Ijebu‑Jesa, Ori‑Ade Local Government Area.
Governor Adeleke ascended the stage with his entourage, where he was greeted by the spokesperson for his re‑election campaign council, Barr. Pelumi Olajengbesi.
During the event, the governor stood up from his chair to cheer his supporters, and others on the stage followed suit.
That action caused the stage to shake, leading to its collapse and sending the governor, his sister, the Chief of Staff, the campaign council spokesperson, and other party leaders to the ground.
