Gov. Abdul Razaq urges Tinubu to raise the minimum wage to N100,000

AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) and governor of Kwara State, urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to raise Nigeria’s national minimum wage to N100,000.

The appeal was made on Friday in Lagos, during a Sallah homage ceremony at President Tinubu’s residence attended by NGF members led by Vice President Kashim Shettima.

Speaking at the event, AbdulRazaq highlighted that many states already pay wages close to N100,000 and called on the federal government to initiate discussions on setting a new minimum wage benchmark.

“On the issue of minimum wage, most of the states are paying almost 100,000 naira today and I urge your excellency, let’s all have a discussion in moving the minimum wage to 100,000,” he said.

“We know we will get the normal support from you as we go ahead to implement that,” he added.
