Barcelona midfielder Gavi is said to have provoked Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior during the El Clásico.
Under Hansi Flick, Barcelona won 2–0 at the Camp Nou, clinching the La Liga title.
The encounter between the two global powerhouses saw several attempts by players on both sides to unsettle their opponents, and a direct confrontation developed between Vinicius and Gavi.
Gavi later remarked that he would not dwell on the episode, stressing that anything that happens on the pitch stays on the pitch.
New footage of the heated exchange between the two players has now emerged.
A video shared on X by Barca Universal indicates that Gavi taunted Vinicius by questioning the whereabouts of his Ballon d’Or.
The Real Madrid winger, who was positioned behind Rodri in 2024, had previously helped his side win both the La Liga and Champions League titles the season before.
Vinicius also chose not to attend the Ballon d’Or ceremony after realizing he would not be awarded it, a decision supported by Real Madrid.
Referring to Vinicius’s disappointment over missing the prestigious individual award, Gavi is reported to have asked:
“Hey, where’s your Ballon d’Or?”
Vinicius responded, “What do you want, mate? I’m keeping my cool.”
The Barcelona midfielder then told Vinicius to “shut up and play” and stop acting foolishly.
Vinicius has recorded 21 goals and 14 assists in 51 matches this season.
These contributions have come amid a turbulent campaign for Real Madrid, which has undergone two managerial changes and witnessed several on‑field disputes among teammates.
