Gates Foundation Promotes AI for National Development and Urges Nigerian Innovators to Address Real-World Challenges

The Gates Foundation has urged Nigerian innovators to direct artificial intelligence (AI) toward solving urgent development challenges, emphasizing that the technology’s worth is measured by its impact on people and national progress rather than its technical complexity.

The announcement came during the launch of the Scaling AI for Development (SAID) Challenge, part of the Nigeria AI Scaling Hub (NAISH). The hub is a joint effort of the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, the Gates Foundation, and Lagos Business School.
