African champions Super Falcons defeated Senegal 2-1 in an international friendly at the Remo Stars Sports Complex, Ikenne, on Friday.
The hosts dominated proceedings from the opening whistle and were rewarded for their bright start in the 32nd minute when former African Women’s Footballer of the Year Asisat Oshoala calmly converted from the penalty spot.
Nigeria doubled their advantage four minutes before the break through Toni Payne.
The Everton midfielder finished brilliantly after being picked out by an excellent pass from right‑back Shukurat Oladipo.
Captain Rasheedat Ajibade came close to extending the lead before halftime but was denied by the Senegalese goalkeeper.

The pace of the game dropped after the interval as Super Falcons head coach Justine Madugu introduced several changes to his side.
Oshoala and Folashade Ijamilusi both went close to adding to Nigeria’s tally in the second half, but their efforts failed to find the back of the net.
Senegal pulled a goal back in the 86th minute when Sokhna Nogaye unleashed a long‑range strike beyond the Nigerian goalkeeper.
Despite the late setback, the Super Falcons held on comfortably to secure a deserved victory.
Both teams will meet again in a second friendly at the same venue on Monday.
