The Cross River State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has begun selling Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for candidates who wish to run on the party’s platform in the upcoming elections.
The process started at the party’s state secretariat in Calabar over the weekend and has already drawn the attention of the ADC’s 2023 governorship candidate, Dr Effiong Nyong, who became the first aspirant to formally announce his intention to run.
Speaking to journalists, Nyong said he has met all the requirements for participation and emphasized that only qualified, credible and marketable aspirants should become the party’s candidates ahead of the next general elections.
He added that the ADC is positioning itself as an alternative platform for governance in Cross River State, criticizing the performance of the ruling All Progressives Congress in the state as disappointing.
According to him, the ADC is determined to address what he described as the failures of the current administration and restore purposeful leadership in the state.
The governorship hopeful also stated that the party would not compromise its ambitions through political negotiations or alliances that could undermine its objectives.
Nyong said the ADC remains committed to delivering accountable leadership and driving meaningful development across Cross River State.
Speaking about the exercise, the party’s State Secretary, Dr MacFarlane Ejah, said the sale of forms covers all elective positions, including seats in the National Assembly and the Cross River State House of Assembly.
Ejah described the exercise as a major step in the party’s election preparations, adding that the ADC is focused on presenting credible, people‑oriented candidates.
He assured party members that the process would be transparent and open to all qualified aspirants.
“The ADC stands for a new era of politics built on integrity, competence and service to the people,” he said.
“We encourage capable and committed sons and daughters of Cross River State to take advantage of this opportunity to offer themselves for leadership,” he added.
