President Bola Tinubu described the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, as “Mr Fix‑It” after the minister’s work in Abuja.
Tinubu said he had known that Wike would not “sleep” on the job when he appointed him as the FCT Minister.
The remarks were made during the commissioning of the new Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, building, which marked the president’s third anniversary in office.
Vice President Kashim Shettima represented Tinubu at the ceremony.
He said: “It’s with great pride that I stand here in Dakibiu to commission the Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, complex.”
“This is not just a build, it’s a statement, a statement that under the renewed hope agenda, the rule of law will have a befitting home.”
“My lords, for too long the Abuja division of this court operated from a cramped temporary space and that was unacceptable. A nation that seeks justice must respect the temple of justice.”
“When I visited and saw the condition, I gave a simple directive ‘fix it’ and today we have fixed it.”
“Let me specially commend the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike for fully being Mr Project and Mr Fix‑It.”
“When I appointed you as the Minister of the FCT, I knew you would not sleep. You took your assignment to deliver this project in May 2024 and by July contractors were on site and you promised 16 months and you delivered in record time with no excuses, no variation, and you delivered in record time. Nigerians can see the difference, well done Wike.”
