Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command operatives disrupted a kidnapping plot in Byazhin, Kubwa, Bwari Area Council, Abuja.

SP Josephine Adeh, the Police Public Relations Officer for the FCT command, said on Friday that armed bandits entered the area at about 12:34 a.m. with the intent to abduct residents.

Acting on credible intelligence regarding the planned attack, members of the Command’s Anti‑Kidnapping Unit were quickly dispatched to the scene.

“When we arrived, the suspects were trying to force entry into a house to abduct the occupants,” she explained. “Upon seeing the police team, the suspects opened fire, which prompted a decisive response from our officers.”

A fierce gun battle lasted for more than thirty minutes, during which the police repelled the attackers and thwarted the kidnapping attempt.

The suspects fled into nearby bushes, sustaining varying degrees of gunshot wounds, the PPRO said.

During the operation, the officers seized one AK‑47 rifle, one magazine, and seven rounds of live ammunition from the suspects.

The intended victims, Mr. Samson and his wife, were rescued unharmed and taken to safety.

They were subsequently transported to General Hospital, Gwarinpa, where they received medical care for trauma‑related distress before being placed under protective custody,” Adeh added.
