FCT CP Issues Two‑Week Deadline to DPOs to Stop Abuja Robberies or Face Sanctions

The Federal Capital Territory Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ahmed Mohammed Sanusi, has issued a directive to the Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) under the metro area command, ordering them to eliminate robbery incidents in Abuja’s city centre within two weeks.

Sanusi delivered the directive during a weekend meeting with 17 DPOs in Abuja.

He said the order aims to reassess the current security landscape and reinforce operational tactics to counter emerging threats in the area command.

He noted that the order was prompted by escalating security problems across the various Area Commands, including traffic robbery, vehicle snatching, “one‑chance robbery” incidents, and motorists violating one‑way traffic rules.

According to him, the command also observed the activities of commercial motorcyclists on major roads in the city centre, vandalism of public and private property, motorists parking on highways, and traffic congestion.

He therefore instructed the DPOs to stop these crimes within two weeks or face sanctions.

The police commissioner also directed all DPOs and Area Commanders in the metro to concentrate on the city centre, adding that he would personally oversee security matters in the Abuja suburbs.

He stressed that negligence would not be tolerated and tasked the Area Commander, Metro, as the supervising officer to provide strong leadership and ensure strict adherence to the directives.

Sanusi urged the public to continue supporting police operations by supplying timely and credible information to the nearest divisions.
