FBI Prohibits Drone Use at Certain U.S. World Cup Games

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has imposed drone flight restrictions around Hard Rock Stadium and the fan festival at Bayfront Park during the World Cup matches in Florida.

FBI Miami and its law‑enforcement partners will enforce FAA‑imposed Temporary Flight Restrictions, according to a statement issued on Monday.

The announcement urged all drone operators to regularly check airspace limits using FAA‑approved apps or the TFR website.

Brett Skiles, special agent in charge of FBI Miami, said the “No Drone Zones” rule was part of measures to ensure public safety, which remains the highest priority.

Skiles added that FBI agents and officers from selected agencies have the Department of Justice’s authority to use specialized tools to intercept and seize drones that violate the restrictions.

“Violations of these TFRs can result in civil fines up to $75,000, criminal fines up to $100,000, up to a year in prison, and seizure of the drone,” the advisory warned.

The FBI urges the public to stay aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious activity, including unsafe drone activity, to law enforcement.

Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, will host seven 2026 FIFA World Cup games, including group‑stage matches, a Round of 32 fixture, a quarterfinal, and the Bronze Final.
