Professor Clement Dzidonu, President of the Accra Institute of Technology (AIT), emphasized that the fast‑moving fields of artificial intelligence, automation, and digital transformation demand graduates who can think independently, learn continuously, innovate, and lead responsibly.
Dzidonu explained that universities should not only confer degrees but also cultivate individuals capable of critical thinking, creative problem‑solving, adapting to change, and making meaningful societal contributions. He reaffirmed AIT’s pledge to produce graduates who are technically skilled, ethically grounded, intellectually curious, and globally competitive.
He made these remarks during the institute’s matriculation ceremony at the Knowledge City Campus in Kokomlemle, Accra, Ghana.
The ceremony marked the official welcome of a new cohort of students into AIT’s academic community.
Addressing the theme “Preparing the Sovereign Learner for a World of Opportunity, Possibility and Difference,” Dzidonu encouraged students to adopt the Opportunity–Possibility–Difference (OPD) perspective: recognize opportunities, explore possibilities, and create meaningful differences in their lives and communities. He urged them to look beyond exams and certificates and instead focus on building capability, character, and courage.
