eTranzact International Plc has broadened its reach in Ogun State by enrolling more than 1,000 agents and installing thousands of PocketMoni terminals throughout communities in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, thereby bringing digital financial services nearer to underserved residents.
Carried out via the company’s PocketMoni Business platform, the program aims to expand grassroots access to financial services and generate extra income opportunities for residents and small business owners.
In partnership with the Zonal Community Development Committee (CDC) of Obafemi Owode, the initiative demonstrates eTranzact’s dedication to extending formal financial services beyond major cities and enhancing banking access in rural and semi‑urban areas.
With the growing network of agents and terminals, residents can perform transactions—including cash withdrawals, transfers, bill payments, and other financial services—directly in their communities, markedly cutting the distance they must travel to reach banking facilities.
Gboyega Kareem Adeleke, Chairman of the Zonal Community Development Committee (CDC) of Obafemi Owode, described the initiative as a significant move toward enhancing financial access and stimulating local economic activity.
He said, “Before PocketMoni came, our people had to travel far for simple withdrawals and bill payments. Today, those services are available within our communities through people we know and trust. This is development that directly impacts lives, and we commend eTranzact for bringing these opportunities to the grassroots.”
Regarding the initiative, Olalekan Disu, Divisional Head of Financial Inclusion at eTranzact International Plc, stated that the project illustrates the impact of delivering financial services directly to communities.
“Financial inclusion is not just about opening access to financial products; it is about creating opportunities and building trust within communities. By empowering local agents and deploying thousands of terminals, we are helping to stimulate economic activity, create livelihoods, and make financial services more accessible to people at the grassroots,” he said.
Disu further added that the success achieved in Obafemi Owode underscores the importance of community engagement in fostering sustainable financial inclusion and supporting Nigeria’s shift toward a more digitally enabled economy.
The company says the initiative is part of a broader strategy to close financial access gaps in rural and semi‑urban communities while advancing national financial inclusion goals. Encouraged by the positive response from residents and community stakeholders, eTranzact plans to replicate the model in other local government areas in the South‑West, thereby expanding access to secure, convenient, and affordable digital financial services.
