England manager Thomas Tuchel has said the national side is not among the favourites for the 2026 World Cup.
Bookmakers rank the Three Lions as the third‑best team, behind Spain and France.
England has not secured a major trophy since winning the 1966 World Cup.
Speaking to the media before England’s final warm‑up match with Costa Rica on Wednesday, Tuchel stated: “We can’t be one of the favourites as we haven’t won it for so long.”
“There are proven winners within the tournament. These are the favourites,” he added.
“We can compete for the trophy and dream big. We know what it takes.”
England will play in Group L with Panama, Ghana and Croatia.
