Donald Duke secures PRP presidential nomination for the 2027 election.

Former Cross River State Governor Donald Duke has been selected as the Peoples Redemption Party’s (PRP) presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

Duke won the party’s nomination after receiving the highest number of votes at the PRP presidential primary held on Tuesday in Abuja.

The outcome was announced at the party’s national secretariat in the Federal Capital Territory by PRP National Chairman Dr. Hakeem Baba‑Ahmed.

Three candidates vied for the nomination.

According to Baba‑Ahmed, Duke obtained 6,499 votes, defeating his nearest rival, Kingsley Yakubu, who campaigned nationwide on youth inclusion and economic reform and received 2,699 votes.

Dr. Nnaoke Ufere, an academic and policy expert, finished third with 784 votes.

Describing the primary as peaceful and transparent, Baba‑Ahmed emphasized that it was conducted without bias.

He urged any dissatisfied aspirant to submit complaints to the party’s Appeal Committee for proper review in accordance with party procedures.
