The Delborough Lagos, a leading hospitality establishment in Africa, marked the 85th birthday of its board chairman, the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Ugochukwu Alfred Achebe (Agbogidi).

The 21st monarch of the Onitsha dynasty was honored with a lavish birthday dinner on 20 June 2026 at The Delborough Lagos, where the entire management team and staff paid tribute to his Royal Majesty.

The celebration followed the hotel’s recent invitation of Michelin‑starred chef Sauro Bison, who debuted at the DANI Restaurant, bringing world‑class dining to African soil for the first time.

Guests included former president Chief Olesegun Obasanjo, Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo‑Olu, Senator Ita Giwa, NDC presidential candidate Mr Peter Obi, Mr Charles Oputa (known as Area Fada or Charly Boy), and a host of other dignitaries from various walks of life.

Highlights of the event featured cultural dance performances by several groups and a vibrant welcome ceremony organized by the hotel staff to honor the monarch.
