Justice Mohammed Garba Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja has revoked the bail granted to Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress.

The decision was made on Tuesday after Sowore failed to appear for his scheduled trial.

During the proceedings, the prosecution counsel, Kehinde Akinlolu, SAN, informed the court that Sowore was absent despite being aware of the hearing date.

Akinlolu requested that the court revoke Sowore’s bail because of his non‑appearance and for allegedly repeatedly delaying the trial.

Justice Umar noted that although Sowore had sent a letter seeking an adjournment, the letter did not specify a reason for the requested delay.

He consequently adjourned the case to June 22, 2026, for a new hearing.
