The Federal High Court in Abuja, on Monday, ordered that online publisher and African Action Congress presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore be remanded to the Kuje Correctional Centre on allegations of cybercrime.
Justice Mohammed Umar, in a brief ruling, directed that Sowore remain at the correctional facility while his motion to stay the execution of the bail revocation order and the bench warrant is heard and decided.
He also dismissed Sowore’s earlier request for the judge’s recusal on grounds of alleged bias.
Justice Umar adjourned the case to June 24 to hear the stay application filed by Sowore’s new counsel, Adeyinka Olumide‑Fusika, SAN.
This follows the judge’s June 16 decision to revoke Sowore’s bail after he failed to appear for trial.
Justice Umar had issued the bench warrant and revoked the bail following an oral application by counsel to the Department of State Services, Akinkolu Kehinde, SAN.
The court will hear arguments on the stay application on June 24.
