The Capital Market Solicitors Association (CMSA) announced that its 2026 Annual Business Summit will concentrate on crafting practical policy recommendations to boost investor confidence, deepen market resilience, and secure the long‑term growth of Nigeria’s capital market.

During a press conference in Lagos, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, SAN, Chairman of the Summit Planning Committee and former Governor of Bauchi State, said the July 1 summit will be held under the theme “Structural Resilience and Market Permanence.”

Abubakar added that the event will convene regulators, market operators, investors, legal practitioners and other stakeholders to explore strategies for sustaining capital market growth while reinforcing solicitors’ role in upholding market integrity and protecting investors.

He expects the summit discussions to yield actionable recommendations that will support policy reforms, improve regulatory effectiveness, and enhance collaboration among key participants in the financial ecosystem.

CMSA Chairperson Simisola Eyisanmi highlighted that the summit will aim to build robust institutional foundations capable of sustaining market growth beyond temporary bullish cycles. She emphasized that lasting resilience can only be achieved through deep structural reforms rather than short‑term speculative gains.

Eyisanmi said participants will deliberate on institutional governance, capital adequacy, market operations, technological innovation, sustainable financing, investor protection, and regulatory reforms that will shape the future of Nigeria’s capital market.

She also urged Nigerians to exercise caution when dealing with digital banking platforms, fintech companies, and online investment applications, advising investors to verify that any institution handling their funds is duly licensed by the appropriate regulatory authorities.

CMSA Vice Chairman Mabel Okereke noted that recent reforms introduced under the Investments and Securities Act (ISA) 2025 have strengthened the Securities and Exchange Commission’s powers and enhanced investor protection. She added that alternative dispute resolution mechanisms now offer investors quicker and more effective avenues for resolving disputes outside the courts.
