Aurora Ventures has launched its 2026 pilot year with support from inDrive, a global mobility and delivery platform that has achieved unicorn status in the same emerging markets the program targets. Nigeria is listed as one of the priority markets for the initiative.

The launch comes after the successful conclusion of the 2026 Aurora Tech Award in Santiago, Chile, where Adeola Ayoola‑Famasi of Nigeria was named among the top 10 finalists out of a record‑breaking 3,400 applicants.

Aurora Ventures is an early‑stage investment program that aims to tap into one of the world’s largest pipelines of underserved female talent. The program is built on a proprietary sourcing advantage derived from five years of Aurora Tech Award data.

Since 2021, applications to the Award have increased nearly thirtyfold, revealing a persistent market inefficiency. High‑traction, high‑growth businesses led by women in MENA, Africa, and Latin America are consistently undervalued and overlooked by traditional venture capital.

Isabella Ghassemi‑Smith, Head of Aurora Ventures, described the launch as a disciplined investment program founded on the conviction that women founders represent one of the most overlooked opportunities in venture capital today.

“Over the past five years, we’ve seen a repeating pattern: exceptional women building rigorous businesses but reaching institutional capital later and on worse terms than their performance justifies,” said Ghassemi‑Smith.
