Former Minister of Sports and Youth Development Solomon Dalung said that, unlike President Bola Tinubu, the late President Muhammadu Buhari had restored government control in areas previously held by Boko Haram.
Dalung made the remarks on Friday during a segment on Arise Television.
He criticized the current federal administration, claiming it has failed Nigerians.
“Despite criticism, Buhari restored government control in Boko Haram‑held areas, unlike Tinubu. President Tinubu cannot be compared with late President Buhari,” he said.
“Both leaders raised the expectations of Nigerians, but Buhari achieved notable successes, especially in security.”
“When he took office, about 24 local government areas in the North‑East were reportedly under Boko Haram control, but those territories were reclaimed during his administration.”
“Despite the security challenges that emerged later, that remains one of the key achievements often cited in defence of his legacy,” Dalung added.
