Body enhancement won’t make you a star, Actor Chibuzor cautions budding actresses

Nollywood actor and producer Emelu Simon Chibuzor has dismissed claims that film directors and producers are pressuring young, aspiring actresses to undergo body enhancement in order to secure roles and achieve fame.

The allegation has gained traction amid a recent trend of predominantly “beautiful faces” dominating the screen. In response, Chibuzor attributed the pressure to a lack of talent and a desire for shortcuts to stardom.

“Any actress who decides to go under the knife just to earn movie roles doesn’t know what she’s doing,” he said. “If you are good, you are good, regardless of your looks.”

The actor, known for discovering several Nollywood stars including Zubby Michael, cited examples of established actresses who became household names in Nigeria and beyond without cosmetic surgery.

To him, body enhancement is merely an excuse for those who have already chosen the path they want to follow in the industry.

Chibuzor also reflected on his recognition last year, when he received the Outstanding Movie Personality award at AFRICUFF in Houston, USA, for his contributions to African cinema.

Describing the award as a milestone, he said it has fueled his drive to produce more quality films.

“The award means a lot to me because it showed that my efforts over the years have not gone unnoticed. It has also given me the zeal to work harder and always try to beat my old records,” Chibuzor said. True to his word, the actor is set to release his latest film on various streaming platforms.

Titled “Dr Richael,” the movie highlights the risks children and teenagers face with peer pressure. He urged parents to stay vigilant, especially with the girl child, so they can spot when things are not going right.
