Benin U-17 Team Prepares for Key Match Against Flamingos in World Cup Qualifiers

Benin Republic’s U‑17 women’s team, the Young Amazons, have begun preparations for their final‑round qualification match against Nigeria’s Flamingos for the 2026 FIFA U‑17 Women’s World Cup, Completesports.com reports.

The squad is currently training at the Missérété Excellence Centre, with head coach Idah Azonsou selecting 30 players for the decisive encounter.

Benin Republic beat Sierra Leone 5‑1 on aggregate to earn a place in the tie against the Flamingos.

Azonsou is expected to trim the squad before the two‑legged tie against Nigeria.

Nigeria will host the first leg at the Remo Stars Sports Complex on Saturday, July 4, while the return leg is scheduled for a week later at the Kégué Stadium in Lomé, Togo.

The overall winner on aggregate will secure a place at the 2026 FIFA U‑17 Women’s World Cup, which will be hosted by Morocco.

The competition will run from 17 October 2026 to 8 November 2026.
