Former senator Ben Murray‑Bruce praised National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu for measures aimed at bolstering security nationwide, especially the decision to deploy at least 1,000 forest guards immediately.
He announced the comment on his X account on Monday, calling the move a proactive step to curb insecurity and prevent criminal groups from using forests and vulnerable communities as safe havens.
Murray‑Bruce said that pairing the forest guard deployment with a heightened military presence in forests and other high‑risk areas signals a firm commitment to tackling security problems at their source.
“I am encouraged by the decisive steps being taken by the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, to strengthen security across Nigeria,” he wrote.
The former lawmaker noted that Ribadu continues to show focus, dedication, and a clear grasp of the security challenges facing the nation.
He emphasized that securing Nigeria’s forests is essential for restoring public confidence and stopping criminal groups from using these areas as operational bases.
“Securing our forests is critical to denying criminal elements safe havens and restoring confidence among citizens,” Murray‑Bruce added.
He further stressed that Nigeria needs bold, practical actions rather than rhetoric to address insecurity, describing the forest guard initiative as a welcome development.
Murray‑Bruce also commended the National Security Adviser and security agencies for their efforts to protect the country.
“Nigeria needs bold actions, not mere rhetoric. This initiative is a welcome development, and I commend the NSA and all security agencies working tirelessly to keep our country safe. Together, we can build a more secure and prosperous Nigeria,” he said.
