Presidential spokesman Daniel Bwala criticized Arise Television anchor Rufai Oseni, claiming the broadcaster acts as an unofficial spokesperson for Peter Obi, the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate.

In a post on X on Monday, Bwala alleged that Oseni’s recent questioning of Obi about policy matters—especially electricity generation—was an attempt to hide his support for the former Anambra State governor.

According to DAILY POST, Obi pledged to raise Nigeria’s electricity generation and distribution capacity to at least 10,000 megawatts (MW) within four years if elected president in 2027.

Obi made the commitment on Saturday after being selected as the NDC’s presidential candidate at the party’s national convention in Abuja.

Bwala challenged the broadcaster to openly declare his political affiliation by taking a leave of absence or sabbatical from Arise Television and joining Obi’s campaign.

“That anchor thinks he is deceiving us by saying he challenges @PeterObi on his plans to generate power as if he is not the unofficial spokesman of Peter Obi. Be courageous and bold and be a man by taking a leave of absence and or sabbatical from Arise News and join Peter Obi’s campaign and test his capacity,” Bwala told Oseni.
