Amaechi’s presidential campaign posters flood Bauchi

Posters advertising the presidential campaign of Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, the chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former Minister of Transportation, have been spotted across key areas of Bauchi.

Amaechi, who filed his presidential nomination on Thursday, previously sought the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket in 2022 but was defeated by President Bola Tinubu. This year he will run for the ADC nomination alongside former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

“Amaechi for President” signs have appeared on major streets in the Bauchi metropolis ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Using the slogan “Move Nigeria Forward,” Amaechi aims to broaden his appeal to northern voters, a region traditionally aligned with Atiku. He also holds the traditional title of Dan Amanan Kasar Hausa of Daura.

The posters were installed at strategic points such as roundabouts, electrical poles and signboards throughout the state capital.

Local residents who saw the posters described Amaechi as a loyal Nigerian who served diligently during President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. One resident, Ibrahim Jafar, said, “He associates himself with the North even more than his own region. He cited Nigeria’s first University of Transportation to the North over his state.”

“Those who are contesting with him that are even our own from the North have not done such. He can be trusted,” Jafar added.

The campaign signs were placed at prominent locations across Bauchi, including Ahmadu Bello Way, Awalah roundabout, Wunti Flyover, Jos Road roundabout, Bauchi Club, Nasarawa Gate, Emir’s Palace roundabout, Railway Road, Sabon Titin Karofi, and Kofar Dumi street, among others.
