Bandit Attacks Raise Alarm; Former Kano Deputy Governor Gwarzo Calls for Prayers

Former Kano State deputy governor Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo has criticized the recent bandit attacks that struck the Yankamaye community in Tsanyawa Local Government Area and the Lakwaya community in Gwarzo Local Government Area, calling the incidents “tragic” and “deeply disturbing.”

The Lakwaya attack, which took place on Thursday, is reported to have killed two people and injured several others.

These events occurred just a week after an earlier assault on the Yankamaye community in Tsanyawa.

Through his spokesperson, Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, Gwarzo released a statement on Friday expressing concern about the deteriorating security situation and urging security agencies to strengthen protection for vulnerable communities across the state.

“The situation is troubling and calls for prayer. I call on the state and federal governments, as well as relevant security agencies, to intensify efforts to address the security challenges facing our communities,” he said.

Gwarzo described the repeated attacks as devastating and warned that they could undermine peace and stability in affected areas, noting that the security situation has reached an alarming stage that can no longer be ignored.

The former deputy governor also urged residents to stay alert and collaborate with security forces by reporting credible information about suspicious movements and activities within their communities.
