Governor Bala Mohammed expressed profound sorrow following the death of Arc. Audu Sule Katagun, Wazirin Katagun and former Deputy Governor of Bauchi State.
He said the loss has left a void in the state’s political and traditional spheres.
Mohammed described Audu, who passed away early Monday at Nizamiye Hospital in Abuja, as a loyal and patriotic civil servant who devoted his life to serving humanity with humility and decorum.
The governor recalled the invaluable contributions of Katagun during his tenure as deputy governor under former Governor Mohammed Abubakar, and later as Chairman of the Governing Board of the Adamu Tafawa Balewa College of Education in Kangere. He highlighted Katagun’s exceptional commitment to good governance, stability, and the overall development of Bauchi State.
Mohammed also noted that, beyond politics and public service, the deceased was an accomplished architectural engineer. His professional expertise significantly advanced Bauchi State’s physical growth and infrastructural development. Through his knowledge, experience, and dedication to excellence, he promoted sustainable development and improved the state’s environment, leaving enduring legacies for future generations.
He further praised the late Wazirin Katagun for his wisdom, integrity, and unwavering commitment to the unity and progress of Bauchi State. Mohammed said the late emir’s counsel, leadership, and devotion to duty earned him respect across political, traditional, and social circles.
Mohammed urged the family, associates, the Katagum Emirate, and all people of Bauchi State to find comfort in the exemplary life and noble accomplishments of the deceased, whose contributions will remain indelible in the state’s history.
He extended heartfelt condolences to the immediate family, the Emir of Katagum, the Katagum Emirate Council, friends, associates, and all affected by this great loss.
The governor prayed that Almighty Allah, in His infinite mercy, would forgive the departed soul’s shortcomings, reward his good deeds, and grant him eternal rest.
