South Africa head coach Hugo Broos believes his team can recover from the opening‑day loss to Mexico at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Bafana Bafana were defeated 3‑0 by the co‑hosts last Thursday.
The former African champions struggled to create chances and finished the match with nine players on the pitch.

“It was not the start we wanted, but I don’t think the scoreline reflects the effort the players put in,” Broos was quoted by CAFonline.
“We were well organised for long periods and, despite the setbacks, I saw enough to believe we can still achieve something in this tournament. We must learn from our mistakes, improve in the final third and focus fully on the next match. Nothing is lost yet.”
Broos hopes the experience gained against Mexico will benefit the team when they face Czechia.
South Africa and Czechia will be desperate to record their first win of the competition.
