Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, has denied that he received money from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Mohammed Hayatu‑Deen.

In an interview on Channels Television’s *Politics Today* on Monday, Lawal said that if he needed money, he would call President Bola Tinubu to obtain it.

He was responding to claims made by supporters of former Vice‑President Atiku that he had taken funds from Hayatu‑Deen.

“If I need money now, I’ll call President Tinubu, and I’ll get it before I get home,” Lawal said.

“Hayatu‑Deen has no money to give. Tell me who was there when he gave me the money. Maybe he’s yet to deliver it. I will go and collect it.”

“Let me tell you, it’s not about money. Hayatu‑Deen was a man who was offering his service and competence,” Lawal added.

“Hayatu‑Deen is more competent than Atiku. They can’t even be in the same boat,” he concluded.
