Mr. Tony Attah, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Renaissance Africa Energy Company, urged Nigeria to move beyond policy talk and focus on concrete results, saying that a steady supply of energy is the clearest sign of genuine economic progress.
Attah delivered his remarks in Abuja during the 20th Annual Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association Section on Business Law (NBA‑SBL). He joined other industry and policy leaders to assess whether the country’s macro‑economic reforms are producing real outcomes.
He emphasized that the true measure of reforms lies in gains in productivity and industrial performance, especially through reliable and affordable power.
“Energy is the single most important input into Nigeria’s real sector, and today it is also its biggest constraint,” Attah said, noting that many businesses still depend on costly self‑generation, which drives up operating expenses. He described Renaissance as a timely and strategic response to Nigeria’s economic inflection point.
The company’s vision, he added, is to secure energy and drive industrialisation through sustainable operations while fostering African‑led value creation.
Attah highlighted early successes, noting that Renaissance achieved more than 40 percent growth in upstream production within 100 days of taking over from the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), thereby increasing the availability of feedstock for power generation and industrial use.
