Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has been declared the winner of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary in Yobe State, receiving 44,841 votes.
The result was announced at the party’s secretariat in Damaturu by the State Primary Election Returning Officer, Hajiya Ma’am Kyari, on Monday.
According to the official collation, Rotimi Chibuki Amechi obtained 300 votes and Mohamed Hayatu‑Deen received 365 votes, with no other candidates contesting in the state primary.
“Having scored the highest number of valid votes cast, H.E. Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, GCON, is hereby declared the winner of the ADC Presidential Primary Election in Yobe State,” Kyari declared.
She praised party members, officials and security agencies for ensuring a smooth and orderly process, and thanked all aspirants and their supporters for maintaining decorum.
Yobe State ADC governorship candidate Kassim Gana Geidam commended the peaceful conduct of the primary, noting the strong support from party members.
He also lauded the state party executive, security agencies, candidates across zones A, B and C, and traditional rulers for their neutrality and maturity.
Geidam urged all party members to remain peaceful in all political activities, saying that such an atmosphere is what the party desires.
