Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, has once again criticized the African Democratic Congress presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, Lawal accused Atiku of lacking empathy for victims of terrorism.

He referred to the death of Christian girl Deborah Samuel, who was killed in Sokoto State over alleged blasphemy.

“Atiku Abubakar has no sympathy for the victims of terrorism. When Deborah Samuel was brutally murdered in Sokoto, Atiku issued a press release condemning the action,” Lawal said. Whe added that the following day he withdrew the statement and apologized, saying it had been issued by his pressmen without his approval.

“I would have expected Atiku to say ‘we condemn what kidnapper kingpin, Turji Bello or herdsmen are doing,’” Lawal continued. “I’ve never heard him condemn when imams go on television and threaten that if you say anything against Prophet Muhammad, we’ll go after you and kill you. I’ve not heard him condemn that.”

“I’ve not heard him condemn the incident that happened in Oyo State recently. He just kept quiet until the thing died down, then he said the government is not doing much,” Lawal added.
