Atiku’s aide explains why Tinubu should resign

Paul Ibe, the media adviser and spokesperson for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, has called on President Bola Tinubu to resign, citing the government’s failure to curb insecurity across the country.

During an appearance on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme on Tuesday, Ibe contended that a government’s foremost duty is to safeguard the security and welfare of its people.

He said Nigeria is less secure today than it was in 2023, citing figures that 879 people have been killed and nearly 300 remain captive.

Ibe described the figures as alarming, reflecting the magnitude of insecurity confronting the nation.

He further argued that the government’s measures had fallen short, insisting the country could not persist with a “trial and error” approach to governance.

“Let me tell you why President Tinubu needs to resign. The primary responsibility of government is security and welfare. Are we more secure now than we were in 2023? The answer is No.

According to statistics, 879 people have been killed, and nearly 300 are in captivity. Those statistics are very frightening. That’s a snapshot of the pervasive insecurity that we have.

The government’s efforts are not good enough. I mean, we can’t continue on this journey of trial and error. The truth of the matter is that Tinubu is incompetent and clueless.”
