Arsenal Preparing to Sell Star Forward

Arsenal are poised to part ways with Gabriel Martinelli, ending his six‑year tenure in north London, according to talkSPORT.

Manager Mikel Arteta is planning a rebuild this summer in an effort to secure back‑to‑back Premier League titles.

Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers is high on Arteta’s priority list, meaning either Martinelli or Leandro Trossard will likely be sold.

Martinelli, the Brazilian international, is the most exposed, having made only a handful of league starts as Arsenal claimed the Premier League title for the first time in 22 years.

Since joining the Gunners as an 18‑year‑old from Ituano in 2019, the Brazilian has tallied 62 goals and 36 assists in 278 appearances.

Born in Guarulhos, São Paulo, Martinelli began his career in 2010 with Corinthians’ futsal team. After breaking into football, he moved to Ituano in 2015 and had trials at Manchester United and Barcelona.

On 4 November 2017, Martinelli signed his first professional contract, which ran until October 2022. He made his professional debut on 17 March 2018, coming on as a late substitute for goalscorer Claudinho in a 2–1 Campeonato Paulista away win against São Bento; at 16 years and nine months, he became the youngest player to appear for the club in the century.

Martinelli scored his first senior goal on 8 September 2018, netting the second in a 4–1 victory over Taboão da Serra in the Copa Paulista that year.

He was permanently promoted to the first team for the 2019 Campeonato Paulista, scoring six goals in the competition and finishing as the club’s top scorer as they reached the quarter‑finals; highlights included a brace in a 3–0 away win against Bragantino on 15 March 2019.
