APC warns against violence ahead of Lagos Reps primaries.

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) gathered in all 245 wards of Lagos State on Saturday to take part in the party’s primary election for House of Representatives candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

At the start of the exercise, Lagos State APC Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi urged party members to avoid violence, intimidation and any misconduct that could disrupt the process.

Ojelabi called on supporters to keep the primaries orderly and peaceful as the party selects candidates for the state’s 24 House of Representatives seats.

The chairman, who also serves as the national chairman of APC state chairmen, praised members for their loyalty and ongoing support for the party’s growth and stability.

He encouraged them to continue backing the party’s programmes and policies to strengthen democratic values across the country.

Ojelabi also urged members throughout the state to actively participate by voting for their preferred candidates, assuring them that adequate security measures would be in place before, during, and after the primaries.

He said the party had arranged for a peaceful, transparent, and credible process that guarantees equal opportunities and a level playing field for all aspirants.

However, Ojelabi warned that the party would not tolerate any actions that could cause unrest or division during the exercise, regardless of who is involved.

“We assure our teeming supporters of their safety and security as they come out to vote in this historic primary election of our party, as everything that could impede their peace and progress has been taken care of,” he said.

“We therefore warn mischief‑makers to have a rethink, as we will not condone any act of sabotage.”

He further directed aspirants to caution their supporters against engaging in activities that could undermine the smooth conduct of the election.

Ojelabi warned that any aspirant linked to violence or disruption during the exercise could face severe disciplinary measures in line with the peace accord signed with the party.

Such penalties may include disqualification from the contest, suspension, or expulsion from the APC.
