The All Progressives Congress (APC) achieved a complete victory in the Gombe State Local Government Council elections, securing every chairmanship and councillorship seat that was contested.

The Gombe State Independent Electoral Commission (GOSIEC) organized the elections, which took place across the state's 11 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 13 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) created by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya's administration through legislation by the Gombe State House of Assembly.

During a weekend announcement, GOSIEC Chairman Abdullahi Garba Talasse stated that the APC captured all 11 local government chairmanship seats, all 13 LCDA chairmanship seats, and every one of the 240 councillorship positions.

Talasse noted that the APC was the sole party to field candidates in every one of the 11 LGAs, 13 LCDAs, and all 240 councillorship wards, whereas other parties ran only in selected areas according to their organisational capacity and readiness.

He added that the establishment of the 13 LCDAs by Yahaya has considerably increased the Commission’s electoral duties and expanded the state's democratic space, allowing for broader grassroots participation and leadership prospects.

He characterized the creation of the LCDAs as a bold move that has brought governance nearer to citizens, strengthened grassroots administration, and opened additional avenues for political inclusion and community development.

Talasse praised political parties, security agencies, election officials, and voters for their peaceful behavior during the process, calling it orderly and successful.

Governor Yahaya has congratulated the newly elected chairmen and councillors, stating that their victories reflect the confidence placed in them by the electorate.

He urged the officials to view their wins as a mandate for selfless service, emphasizing that the public’s expectations were high and could only be met through transparent, accountable, and people-focused leadership.

He urged them to collaborate closely with their communities, foster unity and inclusiveness, and stay committed to delivering democratic benefits at the grassroots level, regardless of political, ethnic, or religious backgrounds.
