Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has cautioned members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who are protesting the recent primary elections in the state not to associate his name with their demonstrations.

Obasa specifically warned against using his name in protests or rallies concerning the primary elections held in Lagos State.

He urged protesters not to link him to any form of demonstration in the state.

Obasa made the statement to DAILY POST on Wednesday morning.

DAILY POST reports that APC members from local government areas such as Badagry, Mushin, Amuwo-Odofin, Eti‑Osa, Somolu, Ajeromi, and Oshodi staged a protest at the APC State Secretariat on Tuesday.

The aggrieved APC members alleged that party leaders had manipulated the outcome of the primary elections in certain parts of the state.

Rumors emerged after the protest that the speaker was sponsoring the demonstrations.

Obasa dismissed the rumors as misleading and untrue.

In his statement, he explained that he has no involvement with the protests.

“It is foolhardy, malicious, misleading, and baseless for anybody to assume or imply that I will import or mobilise protesters from different local governments to the secretariat. To achieve what exactly?” he said.

“I am not a candidate in the disputed election, so why and how will I devote such an amount of money to organising protests?” he added.
