APC Disqualifies Four Fubara Loyalists and Ten Others in the Primary Elections.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) announced that 14 candidates for the House of Representatives were screened and subsequently disqualified from participating in Saturday’s primary election, citing non‑compliance with the party’s screening criteria.

National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka tweeted on the party’s X account from Abuja that the screening was carried out by the party’s committees “in line with established procedures and guidelines,” but he did not disclose the specific reasons for each disqualification.

Four aspirants from Rivers State, reportedly allies of Governor Sim Fubara, were among those removed. They are Air Commodore John Azubuike Opara, UNI (Rtd), who was contesting the Port Harcourt seat; Hon. Anderson Allison Igbiki of Okrika/Ogu/Bolo; Awaji Imombek D. Abirite of Andoni/Opori/Nkoko; and Hon. Boma Goodhead of Asari Toru/Akuku‑Toro.

In total, the disqualified candidates come from six states—Ondo, Bauchi, Ebonyi, Kogi, and Rivers— with Ondo and Rivers accounting for the majority of the cases.

Seven candidates from Ondo State were barred from the primary. They include Hon. Adefisoye Tajudeen, who sought the Idanre/Ifedore seat; Olusegun Victor Ategbole and Seun Oluwashina Ajongbolo, both contesting the Akoko South‑East/South‑West constituency; Rt. Hon. Arowole Ayodeji Samuel of Owo/Ose; and Morufu Tosin Ibrahim, Oseni Oyeniyi, and Olaleye John Adedipe, all vying for the Akoko North‑East/North‑West seat.

The remaining three disqualifications involve candidates from Bauchi, Ebonyi, and Kogi states. Dr. Bashir Ibrahim Bello was excluded from the Darazo/Ganjuwa race in Bauchi; Hon. Idu Igariwe was disqualified from the Afikpo‑Edda Federal Constituency contest in Ebonyi; and Sanni Salau Ogembe of Kogi State was removed from the Okene/Ogori/Magongo primary.

These disqualifications add to the tension surrounding the APC’s primaries, which have already been marked by resistance to consensus arrangements and last‑minute withdrawals in several states.

So far, the affected aspirants have not announced whether they will appeal their disqualifications through the party’s internal dispute resolution mechanisms.
