American Referee from the United States to Officiate South Africa vs. Czech Republic at the 2026 World Cup

South Africa’s Group A match against Czechia at the 2026 FIFA World Cup will feature Tori Penso of the United States as the first woman to officiate a men’s World Cup game, according to Soccer Laduma.

After a 2‑0 defeat to co‑hosts Mexico on opening day, the South African national team will take the field at Mercedes‑Benz Stadium in Atlanta on 18 June at 18:00 South African time, with Penso overseeing the proceedings.

Penso will be assisted by an all‑American officiating crew: Brooke Mayo and Kathryn Nesbitt will serve as assistant referees, while Campbell‑Kirk Kawana‑Waugh of New Zealand has been named fourth official for the fixture.
