Alonso Details Three Changes He Is Bringing to Chelsea

Chelsea’s newly appointed manager, Xabi Alonso, has outlined his priorities as he prepares to take charge of the Premier League club.

In an interview with the club’s official website, Alonso said he will focus on fostering a strong work ethic, creating the right team culture, and winning trophies for the club.

“There is great talent in the Chelsea squad, and it’ll be my great honour to lead it,” he said. “Now my focus is on hard work, the right culture and winning trophies.”

The former Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen coach was appointed following Chelsea’s defeat in the FA Cup final to Manchester City at Wembley on Saturday.

The 44‑year‑old will officially take up the role on 1 July 2026, after signing a four‑year contract with the West London side.
